Better Photos/Videos On Instagram!

Instagram Bible (3 of 7)

Hello,

Instagram is all about the photos and videos, and with
literally millions posted daily, itā€™s extremely important to
be sure yours are the best they can be.

You donā€™t have to have some extremely expensive camera or
other high end equipment. Most photos on Instagram are taken
with basic cell phone cameras, and those are, believe it or
not, the photos most users respond best to.

While the average Instagram user isnā€™t interested in seeing
highly Photoshopped professional photos, they also donā€™t want
to see poorly lit, grainy photos that arenā€™t framed properly
or are extremely uninteresting.

If you want to get a good idea for the type of photos your
potential followers will respond to, find some Instagram
accounts similar to the one you want to create and see what
types of photos they are posting that get a lot of
engagement.

Youā€™ll get an idea for the kind of lighting and framing people
enjoy so you can create similar photos on your own account.

If youā€™re using iOS, you can turn on the rule of thirds grid
to help you frame your photos. You can study more about the
rule of thirds online. Basically, itā€™s a method of framing
photos (and paintings) to make them more visually appealing.

When you choose a filter for your photos, make sure youā€™re
not changing the photo too much with it. For example, food
photos tend to look terrible with most of the standard
Instagram filters applied, so you may want to use no filters
for food photos or just adjust the brightness a bit.

If youā€™re looking for the best lighting for a photo or a
video, head outdoors or next to a bright, sunny window.

Natural light, especially around noon on a sunny day, is
almost always the best lighting for a great photo or
video.

Just keep in mind that youā€™ll need to be careful to take
your photo or video from an angle that doesnā€™t cast harsh
shadows or cause you to squint!

If you donā€™t have any natural light available, you can
use the lighting you have available. Just move around
the room until you find the right lighting for your shot,
and try to use lighting that looks as natural as possible.

Donā€™t forget there are other apps you can use to take
better photos, too. In tomorrowā€™s lesson, weā€™re going to
take a look at some of the best apps you can use to take
better photos and videos for Instagram!

Until then,
